UMBC's Annual Homecoming 5K Chase has been named in memory of former cross country and track standout Rob Magin ('92). Current head coach Matt Gittermann paints the portrait of a quiet but endlessly active man who left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
The Fourth Annual UMBC 5k Dawg Chase was run on Saturday, Oct. 15 as part of the Homecoming '11 Festivities. Jay Souder crossed the finish line first in a time of 17:26.03. Thank you to all 125 participants in the race and we will see you all next year to celebrate Year No. 5!
UMBC Men's Cross Country Places 17th in NCAA Regionals
The UMBC men’s cross country team placed 17th in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Princeton University, on Saturday afternoon. This is a two-spot improvement over last year’s 19th place finish.
Kelhower and Parkinson Named All-Conference as UMBC Cross Country Finshes Fifth and Eighth at America East Championships
The UMBC men’s and women’s cross country teams finished competition on Saturday at the 2008 America East Championships as the men finished fifth with 123 points and the women placed eighth with 192 points.
UMBC Cross Country Competes in America East Championship Saturday at Oregon Ridge Park
The UMBC men’s and women’s Cross Country teams compete Saturday in the America East Championship at their home course of Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Md. The men’s race will start at 10:30 a.m., while the women’s race will take place at 11:30 a.m. Directions to Oregon Ridge Park can be found using the link above.
Senior Kathleen Galan led the UMBC women’s cross country team to a 22nd place finish last week at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional en route to a personal career best time. The accomplishment earns her the Force 3 UMBC Athlete of the Week honor for last week.
Anthony Kelhower ran the fastest time of the year in an 8K for the Retrievers this past weekend in Williamsburg, Va. at the William and Mary Tribe Open and led the men’s team to a third- place finish behind host William and Mary and the University of Virginia. The time of 25:35.8 also ranks as Kelhower’s personal career best, earning him the title of Force 3 UMBC Athlete of the Week.
