11/19/2009 Volleyball Takes on Albany in America East Semifinal Friday at Noon
Freshman Naomi Bush (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport) has been named the 2009 America East Volleyball Rookie of the Year, as announced by the conference Thursday. Sophomore Alyssa Lang (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) has been named to the All-Conference Second Team for the second consecutive year, while freshman Ali Loynachan (Whitby, Ontario, Canada/Sinclair) has been named to the All-Rookie Team along with Bush.

The UMBC volleyball team takes on Albany in the America East Championship semifinals Friday at noon in Albany N.Y. The Retrievers (13-12, 5-5 AEC) are the No. 4 seed, while Albany (20-8, 10-0) is top seed.
UMBC volleyball head coach Ian Blanchard announced today that Ali Goc, Mallory McIntyre and Emily Witsaman have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Retrievers for the 2010 season.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team will kick-off the 2008 season at the William and Mary Invitational from August 29-30, head coach Ian Blanchard announced today.
2007 UMBC Women's Volleyball Prospectus Now Available
BALTIMORE--The UMBC women's volleyball team will return 11 letterwinners and add five newcomers to make up the 16-player team in 2007. Head coach Ian Blanchard will enter his third season at the helm of the women's team, while former University of California, San Diego standout Brianna Koche will assume assistant coaching responsibilities.
11/20/2009 Men's Basketball Takes to Road to Face George Washington in Saturday Matinee UMBC plays its first road contest of the year and George Washington opens its home schedule as the Retrievers (0-2) and Colonials (2-0) play a Saturday matinee (2:00 p.m.) at the Smith Center. This will be the fourth consecutive year that these two teams have met. The Colonials won, 70-64, on Thanksgiving Eve last season and tied the all-time series at three apiece. Paul Mittermeier has the call of the game, beginning with the pregame show at 1:55 p.m. on Fox 1370 Sports Radio (www.fox1370.com).

11/18/2009 Gilliam Sparks Men's Basketball With 22 Points, But Retrievers Nipped, 69-66, by Loyola Junior guard Jamal Barney scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half as visiting Loyola (2-1) held off UMBC (0-2), 69-66, in the 43rd meeting between the two Baltimore-area schools. UMBC sophomore wing Chauncey Gilliam scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Retrievers. UMCB rallied from a 10-point first half deficit to lead on three occaions in the final three minutes, but could not pull out the victory.
Read More 11/17/2009 Men's Basketball Hopes to Rebound as Loyola Visits RAC Arena on Wednesday UMBC and Loyola played for 20 consecutive seasons a year after the Retrievers joined the NCAA Division I ranks. That streak came to an end after the 2006-07 meeting, but the two schools renew the rivalry in the Retrievers’ second game of the campaign. The Retrievers and Greyhounds tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at the RAC Arena.
