STONY BROOK, N.Y.—Three UMBC volleyball players have been named to the annual America East All-Conference teams and sophomore Ashley Oscars (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty) has been named to the All-Academic team, the conference announced at tonight’s championship banquet. Oscars was also named Second-Team All-Conference, while freshmen Sabrina Hoeks (Olympia, Wash./AG West Black Hills) and Bridget Scheetz (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) were All-Rookie team selections.

2007 UMBC Women's Volleyball Prospectus Now Available
BALTIMORE--The UMBC women's volleyball team will return 11 letterwinners and add five newcomers to make up the 16-player team in 2007. Head coach Ian Blanchard will enter his third season at the helm of the women's team, while former University of California, San Diego standout Brianna Koche will assume assistant coaching responsibilities.
5/14/2008 Randy Monroe Signs Six-Year Contract Extension to Coach UMBC Retriever Men's Basketball Through 2013-14 UMBC Director of Athletics Dr. Charles Brown announced today that head men’s basketball coach Randy Monroe has signed a six-year contract extension through the 2013-14 season. Under Monroe’s direction, UMBC completed its most successful season ever at the Division I level, concluding with the school’s first appearance in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships. The 2007-08 Retrievers won the America East Conference regular-season (13-3 record) and tournament titles, recorded a school record 24 victories (24-9 overall) and led the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio.

5/13/2008 UMBC Basketball Inks Prep Standout Chauncey Gilliam to National Letter of Intent UMBC Head Men’s Basketball Coach Randy Monroe has announced that Chauncey Gilliam has signed a national letter-of-intent and will attend the university in the fall of 2008. Gilliam, a 6-4, 215-lb. wing guard/small forward, most recently attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. He averaged 6.2 points per game on a team which lost in the National Prep Championships semifinals to Hargrave Military Academy.
