Three UMBC Volleyball Retrievers Named to All-Conference Teams; Oscars Named All-Academic
STONY BROOK, N.Y.—Three UMBC volleyball players have been named to the annual America East All-Conference teams and sophomore Ashley Oscars (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty) has been named to the All-Academic team, the conference announced at tonight’s championship banquet. Oscars was also named Second-Team All-Conference, while freshmen Sabrina Hoeks (Olympia, Wash./AG West Black Hills) and Bridget Scheetz (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) were All-Rookie team selections.

BALTIMORE, Md.—The UMBC volleyball team recorded their 20th win in a season for the first time since 1998, when they finished with a 22-7 record, after blanking Hartford, 3-0 (30-22, 30-17, 30-25), on Friday night at the RAC Arena.

The Home Stretch: The UMBC Volleyball team will conclude the 2007 season as they host a pair of conference opponents beginning with Hartford on Friday at 3:00 p.m. The Retrievers will then host Stony Brook on Sunday at 5:00 p.m., where they will honor their four graduating seniors in the 2007 season finale.

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--The UMBC volleyball team dropped its sixth straight as they fell to Navy, 3-2 (17-30, 24-30, 30-25, 32-30, 13-15), on Tuesday night at Macdonough Hall in their final non-conference match of the season.

ALBANY, N.Y.--The UMBC volleyball team dropped their fifth-straight, as they were edged by defending America East champion Albany, 3-2 (35-33, 30-26, 18-30, 10-30, 12-15), on Sunday at University Gymnasium. With the loss, the Retrievers (19-10, 4-6 America East) are eliminated from America East Tournament contention, while the Great Danes (18-8, 7-3 America East) cement a spot in the four-team tournament and are currently tied for the second seed with New Hampshire.

ORONO, Maine--The UMBC volleyball team dropped their fourth straight as they fell to America East conference-foe Maine, 3-1 (30-28, 28-30, 24-30, 26-30), on Saturday night at Memorial Gym. The Retrievers fall to 19-9 overall and 4-5 in the conference, which drops them to fifth place in the conference standings. The Black Bears improve to 3-19 and 2-7 in the America East.

BALTIMORE--The UMBC women's volleyball team dropped their third straight as they fell to New Hampshire, 3-2 (30-24, 30-32, 30-28, 23-30, 6-15) in a hard-fought five-set match on Friday night in Durham, N.H.
