11/19/2009 Volleyball Takes on Albany in America East Semifinal Friday at Noon
Freshman Naomi Bush (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport) has been named the 2009 America East Volleyball Rookie of the Year, as announced by the conference Thursday. Sophomore Alyssa Lang (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) has been named to the All-Conference Second Team for the second consecutive year, while freshman Ali Loynachan (Whitby, Ontario, Canada/Sinclair) has been named to the All-Rookie Team along with Bush.

The UMBC volleyball team takes on Albany in the America East Championship semifinals Friday at noon in Albany N.Y. The Retrievers (13-12, 5-5 AEC) are the No. 4 seed, while Albany (20-8, 10-0) is top seed.
UMBC volleyball head coach Ian Blanchard announced today that Ali Goc, Mallory McIntyre and Emily Witsaman have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Retrievers for the 2010 season.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team will kick-off the 2008 season at the William and Mary Invitational from August 29-30, head coach Ian Blanchard announced today.
2007 UMBC Women's Volleyball Prospectus Now Available
BALTIMORE--The UMBC women's volleyball team will return 11 letterwinners and add five newcomers to make up the 16-player team in 2007. Head coach Ian Blanchard will enter his third season at the helm of the women's team, while former University of California, San Diego standout Brianna Koche will assume assistant coaching responsibilities.
2/8/2010 Maine Avenges Earlier Loss to Retrievers, Defeats Men's Basketball, 84-63 Baltimore—Sophomore wing Gerald McLemore tied his career high with seven 3-point field goals in a 25-point effort, leading the visiting Maine Black Bears to a 84-63 America East Conference win at UMBC. The win snapped a four-game Maine (16-8, 8-3) losing streak to the hosts and evened the all-time series at 8-all. UMBC had defeated the Black Bears, 56-55, nine days ago in Orono. Senior wing Matt Spadafora led UMBC with 14 points, but the Retrievers were outrebounded, 47-20.

UMBC snapped an eleven-game slide with a 56-55 win at Maine on Jan. 30. 2/5/2010 Vermont Defeats Men's Basketball, 79-60 Baltimore—Sophomore wing Garvey Young scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half as visiting Vermont (17-8, 9-3 America East) won its third straight, defeating host UMBC, 79-60. The game was played 24 hours before its scheduled time due to expected heavy snows in the Mid-Atlantic region.
