Three Named to America East Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team
Seniors Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College), Dominic Devaud (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and Sara Parkinson (Lancashire, England/Loughborough University) have been named to the 2009-10 America East Indoor Track and Field All-Academic teams, the conference announced Tuesday.

Parkinson Earns Gold, Breaks UMBC Record in 5,000 as Women's Track and Field Completes Action at First Day of America East Indoor Championships

The UMBC men’s and women’s track and field travel to Boston this weekend to compete in the 2010 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet begins Friday at 10 a.m. at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

The UMBC men's and women's track and field teams were awarded this year's St. Lawrence Award for Sportsmanship at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational the weekend of Feb. 6. In the meet program, the Armory Track and Field Foundation stated "with its enthusiasm and grit, UMBC exemplifies the traits deserving of this annual award."

Sophomores Aaron Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dematha) and Kiki Malomo-Paris (Northern Ireland/Glenlola Collegiate School) set school records and fellow sophomore Laura Walker (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) tied a school mark as the UMBC men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Rider/Lafayette Winter Games at the Armory in New York City.

The UMBC men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the The Armory in New York. The women's 4x200-meter relay team of sophomore Nicole Smalls, senior Tawana Wilson (Yorktown, Va./Tabb), freshman Ashley Ajayi (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) and senior Britney Foreman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) broke the UMBC record in a time of 1:43.97.

The UMBC men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at two separate meets Saturday, with a select few going to the Penn State Invite, while the majority of the team was at the George Mason Invitational.

The UMBC men’s and women’s track and field tams won three individual events at the NYRR College Saturday Night at the Armory in New York Saturday night.
