Josefin Stange-Jonsson Named to America East Second Team in Singles
Cambridge—Junior Josefin Stange-Jonsson was named to the America East Conference Women’s Tennis Second Team in singles in a vote of the league’s coaches. It is the first award for Stange-Jonsson, who climbed from the No. 6 position in 2012 to the No. 4 slot in the lineup this spring.

The Retrievers will open play on Saturday, April 27 when they take on No. 2 seed Albany. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

BALTIMORE- Strong play on “Senior Day” gave the UMBC women’s tennis team the win over conference rival Binghamton University, taking the match, 5-2. Heidi Danielsson, the lone senior on the squad, performed brilliantly, triumphing at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles.
Washington, D.C.- Beset by injuries, a short-handed UMBC women’s tennis team fell, 6-1, at Georgetown on April 10. Junior Josefin Stange-Jonsson continued her outstanding spring, with victories in both singles and doubles competition. She picked up UMBC’s lone point of the day, rallying from a rough start to defeat Liz Hamlin, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.
