Cambridge, Mass- Junior defender Jamie Fahey (Baldwin, Md./Loch Raven) was named to America East Conference First Team in voting done by the league’s seven head coaches. Senior Alicia Krause and freshmen Anna Barnett and Abby Wilson also earned league honors. The third-seeded Retrievers are set to face No. 2 Stony Brook in the league semifinals on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in Boston, Mass.

Cambridge, Mass. - For the fourth straight season, fans of America East lacrosse can voice their opinion on who the best player in the conference is. Voting for the 2012 America East Men's and Women's Lacrosse Fans' Choice Player of the Year awards is now open with voting taking place on the league's Facebook page for the first time. UMBC’s nominees are junior attackman Scott Jones on the men’s side and junior midfielder Lindsay Cox for the women.

Baltimore, Md.- Senior midfielder Alicia Krause (Ellicott City ,Md./Mount Hebron) led all scorers with four goals and scored the game-winning goal with 7:30 remaining as visiting UMBC (8-8) knocked off 19th-ranked Johns Hopkins, 7-6, at Homewood Field in their regular season finale. It was UMBC’s second victory over a ranked opponent in 2012, as the Retrievers also defeated then-No. 13 Albany, 8-5, on March 24.

UMBC Lacrosse: A Family Affair
Before UMBC freshman Zach Linkous arrived on campus last fall, his older sister, Meagan, a senior, prepared a list of suggested courses for her younger brother to take. But Zach was able to benefit from another shared bond with his sister – UMBC lacrosse. Meagan is a co-captain and four-year starter on defense for the Retriever women’s team, while Zach, a midfielder, is in his first year on the men’s squad. Believe it or not, the Linkouses are not the only UMBC lacrosse brother-sister combination, as they are joined in that distinctive group by J.D. and Jessica Harkey.

3/1/2012 Men's Basketball Falls in Overtime to Binghamton in America East Tournament First Round West Hartford, Conn.- Ninth-seeded Binghamton defeated No. 8 UMBC, 73-67, in overtime in the first round of the America East Tournament.
UMBC rallied from 11 points down with less than eight minutes remaining and sent the game to overtime, but could not defeat Binghamton for the third time this season. With the loss, the Retrievers finish the season at 4-26. Binghamton (2-28) advances to face No. 1 Stony Brook in the quarterfinals.
