BOSTON—UMBC senior attack Ali Levendusky earned America East all-conference first team honors, and senior midfielder Maggie Chizmar was named to the second team, the league announced Thursday evening at the annual women’s lacrosse awards banquet. In addition, freshman midfielder Megan Linkous was selected to the All-Rookie Team. Awards were decided by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.

BALTIMORE—Down just three at the half, the UMBC women’s lacrosse team (4-12, 2-4 AEC) allowed seven straight goals to start the second period as No. 11 Boston University (13-2, 6-0) completed its perfect America East season with a 14-5 victory over the host Retrievers Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at UMBC Stadium. The Retrievers would have advanced to the four-team America East Tournament with a win, but instead their season comes to an end, as they miss the conference championships for the second straight year.

BALTIMORE—The UMBC women’s lacrosse team (4-11, 2-3 AEC) hosts its third consecutive ranked opponent Saturday at 4 p.m. when No. 11 Boston University (12-2, 5-0 AEC) comes to Baltimore for the Retrievers’ regular-season finale. The America East showdown will be the second half of a UMBC lacrosse doubleheader at UMBC Stadium, as the Retriever men host conference rival Hartford at 1 p.m.

3/21/2008 "A Season to Remember" Ends in NCAA Tournament Setback to Second-Seeded Georgetown, 66-47 Raleigh, N.C—It was a basketball season like none other before at UMBC. But all good things must come to an end, and this memorable campaign did for the Retrievers today. They fought valiantly but fell to the second-seeded Georgetown Hoyas, 66-47, in the first round of the Midwest regional of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. The sold out crowd of 19,477 and a national televised audience witnessed the scrappy and beloved Retrievers (24-9) pester the Hoyas (28-5) into 15 turnovers. However, UMBC could not crack the top defense in the nation and scored a season-low 47 points in the defeat.
