ORONO, Maine—Senior Ashley Fauntleroy (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) was named the America East Outdoor Championship Most Outstanding Field Performer for the second straight year as the UMBC men’s and women’s track and field teams finished fourth and fifth, respectively at the conference championship meet in Orono, Maine last weekend.

BALTIMORE—Senior Toni Boyd (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) and sophomore Jennifer Kalkstein (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell/St. Francis (Pa.)) set new school records in their respective events, while senior Ashley Fauntleroy (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) claimed her first gold medal of the weekend as UMBC track and field completed the first day of the America East Championships in Orono, Maine on Saturday.

PHILADELPHIA--The women's track and field team finished the first day of competition at Penn Relays on Thursday, with appearances in five events. The Retrievers fielded teams in the 4 x 100m relay, 4 x 400m relay, 5000-meter run championship, 5000-meter run olympic development, and shot put.

3/21/2008 "A Season to Remember" Ends in NCAA Tournament Setback to Second-Seeded Georgetown, 66-47 Raleigh, N.C—It was a basketball season like none other before at UMBC. But all good things must come to an end, and this memorable campaign did for the Retrievers today. They fought valiantly but fell to the second-seeded Georgetown Hoyas, 66-47, in the first round of the Midwest regional of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. The sold out crowd of 19,477 and a national televised audience witnessed the scrappy and beloved Retrievers (24-9) pester the Hoyas (28-5) into 15 turnovers. However, UMBC could not crack the top defense in the nation and scored a season-low 47 points in the defeat.
