UMBC men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach Chad Cradock recently announced that he will welcome 22 student-athletes to the Retrievers in 2009-10. The group is the second largest in school history, only behind the incoming class of 2007-08, who had 24.

UMBC swimming and diving seniors Kate Chialastri (Flourtown, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh), Tereza Kaplanova (Prague, Czech Republic/Gymnazium J.G. Jankovskeho) and Brittany Johnson (Ponte Vedra, Fla./The Bolles School) and juniors Keilan Freeman (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Argyll Centre) and Eric Jones (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) have been named captains for the 2009-2010 season, head coach Chad Cradock announced today.

2005-06 SWIMMING AND DIVING MEDIA GUIDE AVAILABLE ONLINE
The 2005-06 UMBC swimming and diving media guide is now available online. The Retrievers are under the direction of fifth-year head coach Chad Cradock. The men are aiming to defend their America East Conference crown, which they have won twice in two seasons in the league, while the women are 5-0 already on the season and hope to better last year’s third-place finish in 2006. STANISLAWSKA HELPS TO BUILD A DYNASTY AT UMBC
Swimming and Diving Head Coach Chad Cradock has quietly built a dynasty at UMBC. Cradock’s teams have dominated three conferences during his four-year tenure at his alma mater. This season, he has seen the men’s team go undefeated in the regular season at 10-0 and win the America East Championship for the second year in a row, while the women have finished second and third in back-to-back years in the tough America East conference. During those two years, the Retriever women have been led by sophomore Agnieszka Stanislawska.
11/20/2009 Men's Basketball Takes to Road to Face George Washington in Saturday Matinee UMBC plays its first road contest of the year and George Washington opens its home schedule as the Retrievers (0-2) and Colonials (2-0) play a Saturday matinee (2:00 p.m.) at the Smith Center. This will be the fourth consecutive year that these two teams have met. The Colonials won, 70-64, on Thanksgiving Eve last season and tied the all-time series at three apiece. Paul Mittermeier has the call of the game, beginning with the pregame show at 1:55 p.m. on Fox 1370 Sports Radio (www.fox1370.com).

11/18/2009 Gilliam Sparks Men's Basketball With 22 Points, But Retrievers Nipped, 69-66, by Loyola Junior guard Jamal Barney scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half as visiting Loyola (2-1) held off UMBC (0-2), 69-66, in the 43rd meeting between the two Baltimore-area schools. UMBC sophomore wing Chauncey Gilliam scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Retrievers. UMCB rallied from a 10-point first half deficit to lead on three occaions in the final three minutes, but could not pull out the victory.
Read More 11/17/2009 Men's Basketball Hopes to Rebound as Loyola Visits RAC Arena on Wednesday UMBC and Loyola played for 20 consecutive seasons a year after the Retrievers joined the NCAA Division I ranks. That streak came to an end after the 2006-07 meeting, but the two schools renew the rivalry in the Retrievers’ second game of the campaign. The Retrievers and Greyhounds tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at the RAC Arena. The game will be televised live by MASN, and Fox 1370 AM (www.fox1370.com) and www.umbcretrievers.tv also will broadcast the action.
