The 2010 UMBC Retriever Golf Classic will be held on June 14, 2010 at Rolling Road Golf Club in Catonsville. The annual event features a 10:00 a.m. registration and 11:00 a.m. shotgun start, an outdoor grill lunch and a 3:30 p.m. happy hour, dinner buffet, and silent auction. Participating in or sponsoring the Retriever Club Golf Classic enables UMBC to obtain the financial resources and scholarship enhancements necessary for its student athletes.

The 2009 Retriever Club Golf Outing at Rolling Road GC on June 15 was a tremendous success. Former men’s lacrosse face-off standout Brian Lawton (’02) highlighted a wonderful day of golf with his first ever hole-in-one! Lawton’s pitching wedge from the 106 yard 10th hole ended his day and the 23rd annual outing in extraordinary fashion.
120 golfers enjoyed a spectacular day at Rolling Road Golf Club. The tournament provides scholarship support, along with academic services assistance and facility upkeep for UMBC’s student-athletes.

8/3/2010 Men's Basketball Opens 13-Game Non-Conference Slate vs. High-Powered VMI on Sunday, Nov. 14 The UMBC men’s basketball team will open its 25th season of NCAA Division I competition on Sunday, Nov. 14, when the host a high-powered V.M.I. Keydets’ squad at the RAC Arena. Tip-off time is set for 3:00 p.m. The contest vs. V.M.I. is the first of 13 non-conference contests for the Retrievers. The schedule is highlighted by four games vs. Baltimore-area rivals and a pair of games at Big East Conference heavyweights U. Conn (Dec. 3) and Notre Dame (Dec. 22) .

3/6/2010 Freshmen Shine, But Men's Basketball Season Ends in America East Quarterfinals West Hartford, Conn.—A pair of freshmen, wing Shawn Grant and post Adrian Satchell gave UMBC fans a promising glimpse of the future, but the seventh-seeded Retrievers dropped a 76-59 decision to second-seeded Vermont (23-9) in the quarterfinals of the 2010 America East Tournament. It was UMBC’s (4-26) first defeat to open tournament play since 2003-04, their first season in the conference.

3/5/2010 Men's Basketball: Gilliam, Satchell Earn America East All-Conference Honors West Hartford, Conn.—Sophomore guard Chauncey Gilliam (Columbia, Md./Brewster (N.H.) Academy) earned America East Third Team All-Conference honors, while freshman post Adrian Satchell (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) was named to the league’s All-Rookie team, it was announced at the conference’s awards reception at the University of Hartford. The seventh-seeded Retrievers meet second-seeded Vermont at 6:00 p.m. in the America East quarterfinals on Saturday.
