BALTIMORE --
Madison Wilson (Abingdon, Md.) hit a three-run homer and the UMBC Softball team (20-13, 12-2 AE) held off a furious rally to defeat visiting Maine, 5-3, on Sunday to complete the three game sweep.
Amaya Carroll (Hanover, Md.) made her first career America East start in the circle and picked up the win, going 4.1 innings, striking out a pair and allowing two unearned run.
Courtney Coppersmith (York, Md.) came in with the tying run on deck int he top of the fifth and pitch the final 2.2 frames for her fifth save of the season. She struck out a pair and allowed just a bloop single and an unearned run.
How it happened:

- Ashley Della Guardia (Phoenixville, Pa.) hit. leadoff double in the third and Lyndsey Evix (Cumberland, Md.) reached on an error. Wilson then followed with her line drive blast just over the left field fence to make it a 4-0 game.
- Maine got three unearned runs back in the top of the fifth on a pair of UMBC errors
- The Black Bears threatened in the top of the sixth on a one out hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice bunt, but Coppersmith got a strikeout to end the threat.
- Erin Behel (Ellicott City, Md.) led off the sixth with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Della Guardia double
- Coppersmith worked a perfect seventh to complete the sweep
