Biography

Jessica Hammond is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the student support services for UMBC’s 19 varsity sports teams.  Hammond’s duties include overseeing student registration activities and tutorial services, coordinating campus NCAA CHAMPS/Life Sills programs, serving as an advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and acting as a liaison with the campus student support services.  

Hammond came to UMBC from LSU, where she served as the academic advisor in the College of Education.  Prior to LSU, Hammond spent close to three years at Tulane University as the senior academic counselor and primary counselor for women’s basketball, upperclassmen on the football team, men’s and women’s track and field, golf and tennis.  Hammond has also spent time as an academic advisor at the University of Pennsylvania and George Mason following her graduation from the University of Connecticut in 1995 with a bachelor of science degree in sports psychology. She later earned her master’s in sport psychology from Temple in 1997.

Hammond came to UMBC in the fall of 2003.
