Biography

Jon Kindred joined the UMBC Athletics staff in February 2012 as an academic advisor for the men's basketball team as well as the tennis and cross country programs.

Kindred comes to Baltimore after working at Saint Francis University from July 2011 to January 2012. During his time at Saint Francis, Kindred was responsible for the coordination of the campus-wide peer tutoring program, as well as directing a program featuring faculty and staff, designed to provide academic support to students on academic probation. Most notably, he gained experience working with Division I athletes while serving as the Red Flash’s primary advisor for at-risk exploratory freshmen student athletes for the football teams, in addition to the men’s and women’s basketball programs. In addition, Kindred served as the head men’s basketball team’s graduate manager where he monitored student-athletes’ academic performance, as well as assisted in recruiting efforts. 

Team captain of the Men’s Varsity Tennis team in 2008, Kindred earned an undergraduate degree in Sports Management from DeSales University. He continued his education at Saint Francis University where in August 2010 he graduated with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
