UMBC Cross Country Concludes Season at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals


Bethlehem, Pa.-- UMBC cross country finished the 2019 campaign at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals at Lehigh University on Friday. The Retriever women finished 24th out of 31 teams, while the men took 23rd out of 25 teams. 

Emmy Beyer led the women's team with a 90th place finish, crossing the tape in a time of 22:02.2. Margo Henley was the second-fastest finisher, taking 102nd with a time of 22:12.19. Morgan Casey (22:37.8), Briana Roberts (22:48.2) and Bridgett Redding (23:17.6) also scored for the women. 

Lydia Olivere from Villanova won the individual title with a time of 20:02. Penn State was the top finishing team with three of their five points scorers finishing in the top 10. 

On the men's side, Chris Thoms led the way with a 103rd place finish. Thoms finished the 10k race with a time of 32:49. Trent Rose was the next to cross the finish line, taking 132nd in 33:27.1. Bradley Arbaugh (34:11.2), Sam Brosh (34:14.3) and Hugh O'Connor (34:17.8) also scored for the men. 

Cameron Fischer of Princeton was the top individual finisher with a time of 29:58.8, the only runner under 30 minutes. Villanova won the team title getting four finishers in the top ten and all five in the top 15.
