Cross Country Returns to Action at the Wolfie Invitational on Saturday

Baltimore, Md.-- The UMBC cross country teams will travel to Stony Brook for the Wolfie Invitational on Saturday after a strong showing at the Mount 5K Duals last week. Senior Sarah Daly(Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) won the event for the second consecutive year as the women took first place going 6-0. The men finished in second at 3-1.

Last Time Out:

At the Mount 5k Duals, the women's team finished 6-0 and the men's team finished 3-1.  Retriever senior Sarah Daly (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) finished first in the women's field for the second consecutive year with a time of 18:27. Senior Hassan Omar (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) placed second overall on the men's side crossing the line 15:45.9. The men finished second as a team, as American took first.

Junior Angel Bucci (Upper Darby, Pa./ Upper Darby) finished in third place, junior Katelyn Callaghan(Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) finished seventh to help lead the Retrievers to first place.  

Freshman Matthew Kane (Sykesville, Md./Century) placed sixth, crossing the line in 16:11.6 for the men.

Other Retriever point scorers for the men include senior Austin Hayslett (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana), sophomore Rhys Burgett (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and freshman Nathan Nadal (Silver Spring Md./Wootton).

Up Next: 

The Retrievers will return to action Saturday, October 3 at the Paul Short Invitational. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Lehigh University.
