State College, Pa.-- The UMBC women's cross country team finished the season with an 18th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Sophomore Sophia Cologer (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was the top finisher for the Retrievers in 74th place.

Cologer led the Retrievers with a 74th place finish at the regional. Sophia finished with a time 22:19 on the 6k course. Junior Katie Govatos (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis/Florida Southern) and junior Nicole Dawson (Jesusp, Md./Hammond) were the next two across the tape for UMBC. Govatos finished in a time of 22:36 (96th), while Dawson finished in 23:01 (113th).

Senior Julie Gessler (Ellicott City, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) and Junior Harmony Roche (Millersville, Md./Severn School) were the fourth and fifth finishers for the Retrievers. Gessler finished in 115th (23:06) with Roche finishing in 130th (23:25). Sophomore Katelyn Callaghan (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) and junior Angelina Oputa (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) rounded out the UMBC competitors. Callaghan finished in 134th in a time of 23:29, while Oputa ended in 155th with a time of 23:59.

Georgetown won the event with 38 points, just edging out West Virginia by four points. Katrina Coogan of Georgetown won the event with a time of 20:06.
