UMBC Closes Out Regular Season at Princeton Invitational

Baltimore, Md.—The Retriever women travel north to Princeton, to take part in the Princeton Invitational on Saturday. This will be the last stop on the road to the America East Championships.

Last Time Out:

UMBC finished in 25th place at the Paul Short Invitational a few weeks back. University of Guelph won the race with 48 points, a full 79 points ahead of second place Georgetown.

Senior Sarah Daly (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) paced the Retrievers, finishing in 47th place with a time of 21:08. Sophomore Sophia Cologer (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was the second Retriever across the finish line with a time of 21:47, good for 105th.

Last Year at the Princeton Invitational:

Cody Mezebish paced the Retriever women with a 43rd-place finish at Princeton, finishing the race with a time of 22:40.  After not scoring at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh, freshman Sarah Zielinski (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) was the second UMBC runner across the line (22:53) in 58th-place. Junior Nicole Dawson (Jessup, Md./Reservoir) finished in 62nd with a time of 22:58

About the Invite:

More than 50 schools will be in attendance from all up and down the east coast. The women's race will begin at 11:15 a.m., with the men starting at 12 p.m. Race map and driving information can be found at goprincetontigers.com. 

On the Horizon:

 The UMBC women's cross country team returns to action in Orono, Maine for the America East Championships on November 1. The meet will take place on the campus of the University of Maine. UMBC looks to improve upon their fifth place finish from a year ago.
