UMBC Heads to Pennsylvania to the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday

RACE CENTRAL

Baltimore, Md.—The Retriever women will head to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational, presented by Asics. This will be the first meet for the team since the Salty Dog Invitational back on September 13.

Last Time Out:

The Retrievers finished in fourth place at the Salty Dog Invitational, hosted by Navy. UMBC finished with 100 points, while Johns Hopkins finished in first with 26 points.

Senior Sarah Daly (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) paced the Retrievers with a top 11 finish in a time of 22:51.33. Teammate junior Sophia Cologer (Annapolis, Md./Broad Neck) also turned in a top 11 finish with a time of 23:05.76.

Last Year at the Paul Short Invitational:

Cody Mezebish paced UMBC with a 19th place finish, en route to the Retrievers finishing in fifth as a team.

Junior Nicole Dawson (Jessup, Pa./Hammond) finished less than 20 seconds behind Mezebish, with Senior Julie Gessler (Ellicott City, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) crossed the line in 67th place.

On the Horizon:

The UMBC women's cross country team returns to action the regular season finale at the Princeton Invitational on October 18. Following the Princeton meet, the team will head to Orono, Maine for the America East Championships on November 1.
