Freeman's Big Match Not Enough as Volleyball Falls at Stony Brook

Stony Brook, N.Y. --  Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) had a match-best 15 kills, but the UMBC Volleyball team fell in three sets to defending champion Stony Brook (25-20, 25-22, 25-18) on Sunday afternoon on Long Island.

Taylor Dunn (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished with 28 assists, and senior libero Kristin Watson (Bowie, Md.) had 14 digs for UMBC (5-15, 1-5). Becca Elrod (Cary, Ill.)had her first start of the season, finishing with three kills and four blocks. Freeman added four blocks and Paola Rojas (San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico) finished with eight kills.

Kendra Harlow led Stony Brook (12-8, 6-0) with 11 kills on .667 hitting.

The Retrievers travel to Binghamton next Friday.
