Baltimore, Md - The UMBC Volleyball team closes out the non-conference schedule when it hosts cross-town foe Coppin State on Tuesday, September 24th at 7 p.m.
Scouting the Retrievers:
UMBC (3-11, 0-1) are coming off a tough loss in its America East opener against Binghamton on Friday night at the UMBC Event Center. The Retrievers forced a fifth set after dropping the first two of the match, but the Bearcats prevailed.They are hoping to have a strong performance from Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) who is coming off a double-double, with 11 kills and 19 digs, to continue her hot steak, with double-doubles in six of her last seven matches. Paige Krenik (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) also had a strong performance, as she tied a career-high 18 kills.
Scouting the Eagles:
Coppin State (4-13) are coming off a strong weekend at the Charm City Classic, where they went 2-1, after falling in the last match against North Carolina A&T, 3-1. Freshman Miajavon Coleman is coming off a strong weekend, where she posted a career-high 29 kills against North Carolina Central, and an overall 20.7 kills over the three game weekend. Along with freshman Brianna Lang who averaged 45 assists over the tournament.
The Retrievers will travel to defending America East regular season champion Albany for Sunday matinee. The match is set to begin at 2:00 pm.
