Volleyball Heads to D.C. to Face Three-Time Defending MEAC Champion Howard

The UMBC Volleyball team makes the short trek down to Washington D.C. for a mid-week match against the Howard Bison at 7:00 pm.

Scouting the Retrievers:

UMBC (3-9) hopes to bounce back after a tough time at the Towson Invite, where they lost three, five-set matches. The Retrievers hope for a strong performance from Carmen Freeman (Memphis, Tenn.) as she is coming off of four straight double-doubles. Redshirt Senior Paola Rojas (San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico) is coming off strong performances at the Towson Invite as well, as she averaged 15.3 kills over the tournament.

Scouting the Bison:

Howard (5-8) is coming off six straight losses, four of them being sweeps. The Three-time defending MEAC champions start off struggling early in 2018 after going 16-16 in 2017. They are hoping Jurnee Tipton can bounce back after this long stretch.

Inside the Matchup:

The Retrievers holds a 22-5 record over Howard, including a sweep of the Bison at the RAC last fall.
