Volleyball Travels to New England to Face Three-Time Defending Conference Champion New Hampshire on Friday

The UMBC Volleyball team (10-3, 1-0) takes its first conference road trip of the season when it travels to three-time defending America East champion New Hampshire (7-8, 0-0) for a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday. 

The Retrievers are coming off a victory over Stony Brook, and junior Abbie Mirabella (Hockessin, Del./St. Mark's) has had a fantastic start to the 2016 season, picking up her second America East Player of the Week award of the year this past Tuesday. The outside hitter registered a total of 193 kills, an average of 4.29 per set. Red-shirt sophomore setter Claudia Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) has 417 assists for an average of 10.43 assists per set.

Series History: UNH leads the all-time series 18-9 after taking both matches in 2015.

Scouting the Wildcats: New Hampshire will be playing in its first match since a 3-1 home loss to Northeastern on September 20. The trio of Emily Tanski (154 kills), Demi Muses (148) and Courtney Bowman (133) pace the offense. Muses is averaging 3.61 kills per set on a .295 hitting percentage, both team bests. Setter Keelin Severtson is averaging 10.39 assists per set for a total of 561 overall and also has added a team-high 25 aces.
