BALTIMORE – The UMBC volleyball team will host a pair of camps during the summer of 2014, head coach Ian Blanchard announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The Retriever High Performance Camp will run from July 21-24 with the Big Dawg Individual Skills Camps following immediately after from July 25-27. Both camps will be hosted on the UMBC campus at the RAC Arena.
The High Performance Skills Camp will focus on all of the major volleyball skills – passing, blocking, attacking, serving, and defense – and promises a low athlete-to-coach ratio. Campers have the option to stay overnight at UMBC or commute to camp each day.
The Individual Skill Camps will primarily focus on each individual athlete, but can accommodate groups and teams. This set of camps will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily on a commuter basis.
During both camps, Coach Blanchard will coach the athletes on the top court and will assist with the operation of the camp. Athletes entering grades 7-12 are welcome and will be separated according to skill-level based to the days' activities.
