Baltimore, Md.-- UMBC track and field continues their preparations for the America East Championships by staying local and traveling up I-695 to Towson for the Towson Invitational on Saturday. The Retrievers are coming off strong performances at the Pepsi Florida Relays last weekend that saw several Retrievers hit IC4A/ECAC qualifying marks, as well as NCAA Preliminary cuts as well.

Last Time Out (Pepsi Florida Relays):
-Manos Kamtsiklis and Andrew Haberman kicked off the weekend with IC4A qualifying marks in the hammer throw. Kamtsiklis finished fourth with a toss of 59.93m with Haberman taking 14th with a toss of 53.17m.
-Day two saw Kelechi Nwanaga and Kaya Knake put themselves into the NCAA Preliminaries in the javelin (4th, 50.87m) and the 800m (18th, 2:07.95). Alexios Prodanas also hit an NCAA cut in the hammer throw, finishing with a toss of 64.91m.
-The final day was highlighted by the 4x800m relay team who finished in ninth place in 8:57.50, just three seconds off the school record set in 2015.
-Alexios Prodanas was named America East Field Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday morning. Prodanas had a strong outing at the Pepsi Florida Relays last weekend, picking up where he left off during the indoor season.
Prodanas had a toss of 64.91m in the hammer throw on day two of the relays. The throw was ranks him 22nd nationally and should be enough for an NCAA Preliminary cut for later in the spring. This is his fourth total conference award this year, winning the award three times during the indoor season.
-The Retrievers will travel south to George Mason for the Mason Spring Invitational next Saturday, April 13.
