Boston, Mass.-- UMBC track and field junior Alexios Prodanas and senior Erin Patrice were named Male Field Performer and Female Track Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday morning. Prodanas continued his torrid winter by rebreaking the school record in the weight throw, while Patrice won the 60m dash and came in third in the 200m dash at the Penn State Tune Up on Saturday.
Prodanas once again broke his school record in the weight throw for the fourth time this winter. His toss of 21.26m eclipsed his throw of 19.54m he had just two week prior at the Sykes & Sabock Challenege Cup. His toss on Saturday was also the 14th best throw in the nation this year.
Patrice had a stellar day in the track, earning gold in the 60m dash and bronze in the 200m dash. She turned in a time of 7.66 in the 60m dash to win the event and a time of 25.19 in the 200m dash to finish third.
Both the men's and women's teams will look to win their first America East Indoor Track and Field Championship this weekend in Boston. Live coverage of the championships will be streamed on AmericaEast.TV.
