Boston, Mass.—UMBC track and field freshman Kelechi Nwanaga was named America East Female Field Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. Nwanaga shattered the school record at the Pepsi Florida Relays last weekend in the javelin, earning third in the event.
The freshman broke the school mark with her first throw at 49.57m before taking third in the event, with her final attempt going a distance of 51.64m. The toss ranks 15th nationally in the early part of the outdoor season.
