Baltimore, Md. – UMBC track and field will return for the third time this season to State College on Saturday afternoon to participate in the Penn State Tune Up.

Last Time Out (Fastrack National Invitational):
The Retrievers had a successful weekend last week in Staten Island, N.Y. in the Fastrack National Invitational.
Seniors John Oputa and James Oakley III led the charge for the men, earning top finishes in short distance events. Oputa ran the 200m dash in 22.16 to earn the gold medal in the event, while Oakley took the bronze medal in the 400m dash, finishing the event in 49.83.
Fellow senior Noel Njem and junior Jamal Cody competed in the 4x400 relay event along with Oputa and Oakley and took seventh with a time of 3:21.16.
Junior Matt Kane recorded a personal best in the mile run, finishing with a time of 4:17.84.
For the women, juniors Amani Wallace, Aliya Sharp, and Yinka Alabi, along with freshman Collese Daley, also took seventh in the 4x400 relay event, finishing the relay in 3:58.433. Senior Funmi Daramola earned a top-ten finish in the 400m dash with a time of 58.58.
UMBC will travel to Boston for the America East Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday next weeekend.
