Baltimore, Md.—The Retrievers will head back to the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Center for the second consecutive week for the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday, Jan. 20. UMBC is coming off a strong showing at the Great Dane Classic last Saturday.

Last Time Out (Great Dane Classic):
Alexios Prodanas led the charge for the men, taking home second place in the weight throw with a toss of 17.54m (57'6.5"). His throw was a personal best for the freshman, moving him up to fifth all-time in the UMBC record books.
Classmate Russell Bowman followed that up with the ninth best throw in school history in the shot put, taking seventh in the event at 14.74m (48'4.5").
On the track, Brian Nelson took seventh in the 60m dash with a time of 6.94, improving on his time of 7.00 from the prelims. Both James Oakley and Urgy Eado hit IC4A qualifying marks in the 200m and 1,000m respectively. Oakley took 12th in the 200, finishing in 22.15 while Eado took silver in the 1,000 crossing the tape in 2:28.39.
Tori Johnson, who had a tenth place finish in the 500m, led the women, as the rookie finished the race in 1:16.74. Briana Roberts earned a ninth place finish in the 1,000m run, clocking in at 3:01.77.
Katelyn Callaghan had a fifth place finish to lead the distance runners in the 5,000m. Callaghan finished the race in 18:01.49.
The Retrievers will split next weekend, heading to the Penn State National Meet on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28, with others competing at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday.
