Princeton, N.J.—UMBC track and field concluded their meets this weekend at Morgan State and Princeton on Saturday. Several Retrievers turned in top ten program marks on Saturday.
At Princeton, Angel Bucci and Mercedes Tillman led the way on the track. Bucci turned in another top ten program performance going 10:16 in the 3,000m run. Tillman took 12th in the 200m dash, finishing in a time of 24.93 for seventh all-time. She then ran a 55.99 in the 400m dash, good for 13th place.
In the field, Jean Udo moved up to third all-time in the triple jump with her third place finish with a jump of 11.60m (38'2"). Ozi Edokobi had a personal best in the discus, finishing sixth with a toss of 42.69m (140'1").
On the men's side, a pair of Retrievers ran personal bests. Darrius Oxley finished the 400m hurdles in a time of 53.99 in 14th place. Freshman Jamal Cody finished the 110m hurdle prelims in a time of 14.79 in 12th place.
Erick Soetje ran a sub 49 second 400m dash, going 48.82 in 17th place. Hassan Omar continued his strong weekend, earning a spot in the top ten in program history in the 1,500m run. Omar finished the race in third place with a time of 3:55.44.
Morgan State Legacy Meet:
Only a handful of Retrievers competed at the Morgan State Legacy Meet. Samuel Enomanna took 20th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.94. Caitlyn Davis and Emma Gerhold competed in the pole vault, taking fourth and sixth place respectively. Davis finished clearing her best height of 3.10m (10'2"), while Gerhold cleared the same height.
The Retrievers will compete at the historic Penn Relays next Thursday through Saturday, April 28-30.
