Jackson Earns ECAC Athlete of the Week

Danbury, Conn.-- UMBC track and field senior Mercedes Jackson (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) earned ECAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the ECAC on Wednesday. Jackson earns the honor following her strong, record breaking performance at the America East Championships. 

Mercedes broke a pair of UMBC, America East and Albany facility records at the championships. She ran an 11.36 in the 100m dash and a 23.55 in the 200m dash to earn gold in both events. In the process, Jackson earned her third consecutive Most Outstanding Track Performer award at the outdoor meet. 

Jackson and several other Retrievers will head to Princeton, N.J. next week for the ECAC/IC4A meet. The three day meet will begin on Friday, May 15, and run till Sunday, May 17 beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day.
