Women's Tennis Edged by Stony Brook, 4-3

BALTIMORE – UMBC won the doubles point, but could not carry the momentum into singles play and lost a narrow 4-3 decision to visiting Stony Brook at the UMBC Tennis Complex on March 26.

Freshman Maria Siopacha won both of her matches on the day, combining with sophomore Alice Taylor to capture a 6-4 decision at No. 2 doubles and edging Elizabeth Tsvetkov of SBU at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Senior Madlena Kurasz and sophomore Charlotte Tonjann teamed up for a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles, while sophomore Laura Ambrozic also gained a win, triumphing at No. 5 singles, 7-6, 6-4.

The Retrievers continue the homestand by taking on Richmond  on Thursday, March 31th.
