Women's Tennis Opens Long Homestand By Hosting Stony Brook on Saturday A.M.

Scouting the Retrievers (3-7, 2-0 AEC):

UMBC has recorded a strong start in America East competition as they have beaten both Hartford (7-0) and Binghamton (5-2). The Retrievers look to continue this success with freshman Maria Siopacha continuing to take on the first flight with a solid 4-6 record. Close behind is sophomore Alice Taylor, competing in flights 3-4, also with an overall 4-6 record.

On the doubles side, senior Shannon Cleary and sophomore Laura Ambrozic will likely match up together as they have most of the season. The two usually take on the second flight but have gone up to take on the first flight. in the last four matches, Junior Mariami Dolashvili owns a 3-3 record and senior Madlena Kurasz is 2-2 at the No. 1 doubles flight.

Scouting the Seawolves (5-4, 0-0 AEC):

Stony Brook is coming off of a 6-1 win versus Niagara but has yet to start off their conference season. UMBC will be the Seawolves' first contest in the America East Conference. In previous seasons, SBU has defeated UMBC in their past three matches.

The Seawolves are led by underclassmen Elizabeth Tsvetkov, Yana Nikolaeva, and Devanshi Bhimjiyani in singles. Sophomore Tsvetkov competes on No. 1 flight and has an outstanding record of 7-2. Sophomore Nikolaeva and freshman Bhimjiyani both take on the second and third flights with overall singles records of 5-2 and 5-4 respectively.

The Seawolves' doubles teams have combined for a 16-11 record.
