Swimming and Diving Completes Competition at ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - On the final day of competition at the ECAC Championships, several members of the UMBC swimming and diving teams took to the pool. Overall, the men finished sixth with 148 points and the women finished 14th with 66 points.


Senior Hania Moro (New Cairo, Egypt) placed first in the women's 1650 free, touching in with a time of 16:57.09; during the event, Moro set a new team record in the 1000 free with a time of 9:58.05. On the men's side, Kai Wisner (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished third in a time of 15:33.23.


Jeremy Gates (Escondido, Calif.) placed sixth in the 200 back after touching the wall in a time of 1:52.28.


In the men's 100 free, Ilia Rattsev (Moscow, Russia) finished first, coming in with a time of 43.97.


Natalija Marin (Belgrade, Serbia) came in third in the 200 fly, touching in with a time of 2:00.26. On the men's side, Matt Bennici (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) placed second in a time of 1:48.40, followed by Jack Carlisle (Cape Town, South Africa) in third with a time of 1:49.24.
