BOSTON, Mass. - Three UMBC swimming and diving student-athletes have received America East Performer of the Week awards, the conference announced Tuesday, following the team's sweep over VMI on Saturday.
Alexander Gliese (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) took home his second Male Swimmer of the Week award after earning two individual wins in the 100 and 200 back. He set a new season-best in the 100, touching in with a time of 49.29, and came in first in the 200 with a time of 1:47.29. Gliese was also apart of the 200 medley relay team that reset the UMBC pool record in a time of 1:30.40.
Abby Biddulph (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) was named Female Diver of the Week after placing first in the 3 meter dive with a score of 229.60 and taking second in the 1 meter with a score of 204.00.
Elijah Wright (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) earned his fourth Male Diver of the Week nod after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter with scores of 292.50 and 268.35, respectively.
The Retrievers will take a break from the pool and return on January 5 when they host Howard at 2 p.m. Prior to the meet, the team will honor its graduating seniors.
