Four UMBC Divers Head to Virginia for NCAA ZonesBALTIMORE – For the second consecutive season, the UMBC swimming and diving team sends four divers to the NCAA Zone “A” Diving Meet. This year’s regional diving meet will take place from March 10-12 and will be hosted by Virginia Teach at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
Frediani and Darelius Sweep America East Weekly Swimming and Diving AwardsCAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC sophomores Catherine Frediani (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and Corinna Darelius (Rye, N.Y./Rye) have swept the America East Swimming and Diving weekly awards, the conference office announced on Tuesday morning. Frediani was named the Swimmer of the Week after her two wins against Howard while Darelius claims the diving award following a sweep of the diving events last Saturday.
66 Athletes + 4 Coaches = 1 GoalTeam (n.) – a group of people who compete in a sport, game, etc., against another group; a group of people who work together. Though technically the UMBC swimming and diving team is actually two entities, a men’s squad and a women’s squad, the 66 combined athletes, plus the four coaches prefer to consider themselves just one team. One team, with one goal – win a conference championship.

Retriever Men Pick Up Road Dual Meet Win; Women Fall in Close Decision at Old DominionNORFOLK, Va. –Reigning CCSA Swimmer of the Week senior Mohamed Hussein (Cairo, Egypt/Victory College) once again won multiple events and the Retrievers swimming and diving team defeated Old Dominion, 158.5-139.5, Saturday afternoon. The UMBC women battled, but fell to the Monarchs, 155-145, despite three wins from senior Talor Tadena (Orangevale, Calif./Bella Vista).
Swimming and Diving Sweeps Relays but Falls to Navy in Dual MeetBALTIMORE – The UMBC swimming and diving teams swept all four relay events, but it was not enough as Navy swept the Retrievers in a dual meet, Friday afternoon at the UMBC Aquatic Complex. The Midshipmen won the men’s meet, 154.5-145.5, while the Navy women downed the Retrievers, 163-137.
Swimming and Diving Hosts Navy to Open 2013-14 Home SlateBALTIMORE – After opening the dual meet season with a sweep of Rider in New Jersey last weekend, the UMBC swimming and diving teams open up the home portion of their schedules by hosting Navy on Friday at the UMBC Aquatic Complex.
