Peter Krech finished his second season with the UMBC women's soccer coaching staff, having been promoted to an assistant coach at the conclusion of the 2013 season. Krech spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant on the staff.
Prior to UMBC, Krech spent three seasons as the assistant men’s coach and recruiting coordinator at his alma mater, St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Krech’s responsibilities included organizing and working with film, being involved in training plans and game strategies, as well as identifying potential student-athletes, coordinating their visits, paperwork and tours.
Krech gained head coaching experience with the Freestate Soccer Alliance, where he has been on staff since 2009. After a recent merger, the club is now known as Maryland United FC, and Krech is currently the head coach for the Girls U12 Red and the Girls U18 Red teams.
Krech also has experience with the Olympic Development Program (ODP), where he coached the ’95 boys’ team for two seasons, leading them to the regional finals in 2011. Prior to taking over the boys’ team in 2011, he served as the assistant coach with the ’96 girls in 2010 and the ’95 girls in 2009.
The Maryland native graduated from St. Mary’s in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in sports coaching and management. Krech also has a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “B” License and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Level I Goalkeeping Diploma.
