In their last game out, the Retrievers dropped a close 2-1 contest to the Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds on Sunday, September 2.

Erin Stevenson scored the lone goal for the Retrievers in the 21st minute after she converted a penalty shot into the lower right corner of the net for her first goal of the season.

Loyola's Hannah Hoefs scored both goals for the Greyhounds, first in the 18th minute and then again on a penalty kick in the 31st minute.

Between the pipes, Leah Roth made four saves on the night. The senior now has 21 stops on the year and 193 in her career, which places her sixth overall in UMBC program history.

On the season, Stevenson and Christina Corbi have both scored for the Retrievers, leading the team with two points. Jess Hopkins and Elysia Paolillo have each recorded an assist.

Towson picked up its first win of the season on Thursday after they defeated Loyola, 3-2, in overtime. The Tigers lead 2-0 at the half, but the Greyhounds struck back in the second half to even things up.

Towson scored early into the first overtime period, however, to claim the victory.

The Tigers picked up an early 1-1 tie against Longwood on August 26, and a 2-1 overtime loss at USF back on August 16.

Justine Stoner leads Towson with six points off three goals, followed by McKenzie McCaull and Nikki Logan (1g, 1a).

In goal, Megan Collins has played in all seven games for the Tigers, making 32 saves on the season.

The Tiger lead the series against the Retrievers, 8-7-1.

Last season, the two teams met on opening weekend and played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime. Gabby Boehmer scored the lone goal for UMBC on the night after she rebounded a save and knocked the goal into the back of the net.
