BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Gabby Boehmer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) was named to the America East All-Academic Team, the conference announced Wednesday. This is the second year in a row that Boehmer has picked up the honor.
Boehmer earned a spot on the All-Academic team for having a 3.61 overall GPA as a mathematics major. During the season, Boehmer was second on the team with six points off three goals. The Lebanon, Pa.-native finishes her career at UMBC with 15 goal and one assist.
Five different university, who represent the top five seeds in this year's America East conference tournament earned the major awards that were also handed out on Wednesday. The awards, along with the all-conference teams, were determined in a vote by the league's nine head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Binghamton's Kayla Saager earned Striker of the Year, while Hartford's Sierra Stone, last year's Co-Rookie of the Year, took home Midfielder of the Year. Albany's Caroline Kopp became the first Great Dane to garner Defender of the Year honors, and New Hampshire's Mia Neas took home Goalkeeper of the Year. Stony Brook's Sofia Manner took home Rookie of the Year honors. This year, the coaching staffs from the co-regular season champions Binghamton and New Hampshire took home Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
