Women’s Soccer Closes out Non-Conference Schedule with Robert Morris on Thursday

BALTIMORE, Md. – After an exciting 3-1 win over Delaware State on Sunday, Sept. 18, the UMBC women's soccer team looks to finish its non-conference schedule at home against the Robert Morris Colonials on Thursday, Sept. 22. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Retriever Soccer Park.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC enters the last non-conference game of the season at 3-5-0 after a 3-1 win over Delaware State on Sunday, Sept. 18.

-Led by junior Gabby Boehmer's two scores and an insurance goal from classmate Virginia Moyer, the Retrievers snapped a four-game losing streak and remained unbeaten at Retriever Soccer Park this season. Redshirt-senior Alexa Quaranta, junior Madison Koenig, and freshmen Nikki Saad and Jessica Hopkins all recorded assists in the win.

-After the first multi-goal game of her career, Boehmer was tabbed as America East Co-Player of the Week.

-Boehmer joins Saad and Quaranta as leaders in goals for the Retrievers with two apiece. Saad also leads the team in points with six, while classmate Hopkins joins her as the only other member of the team with multiple assists (2).

-Goalkeeper Leah Roth comes into the week with 12 goals against and a 1.46 goals against average, while making 42 saves.

CAREER WATCH: Redshirt-senior Alexa Quaranta is now tenth in career shots taken with 113. She is tied for eighth in assists (7) and is four goals away from tying for ninth (18).

Scouting the Colonials:
-Robert Morris enters its last non-conference game with a 2-7-0 record, after defeating Ohio, 1-0 in overtime on Sept. 11 and Howard, 2-0 on Sept. 15, before falling to Northern Kentucky, 2-0 on Sept. 18.

-The Colonials are led by Jane Schleicher and Greer Monahan with two goals each. Schleicher scored the game-winner against Howard, while adding another brace against Akron (Sept. 8). Monahan also had scores against Akron and versus Howard.

-Schleicher leads the team in points with five, followed by Monahan and Kasia Bak, who leads the team in assists (2). Erin Ritzer leads all Colonials with 32 shots, 13 on goal.

-Goalkeeper Makenzie Shearson has made nine appearances and eight starts in the net for Robert Morris, posting a 2.12 goals against average, a .742 save percentage, and has made 49 saves. Serena Donmoyer has started one game and made two appearances, allowing three goals while making five saves.

Series Information:
-UMBC holds a 6-1-0 advantage over Robert Morris, including five games when both were Northeast Conference rivals. The two teams last met in 2014, where the Retrievers picked up a 1-0 win in Moon Township off a goal from Jessy Brown.
