Women's Soccer Looks to Bounce Back Against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday

UMBC women's soccer looks to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to George Washington on Thursday, Sept. 1 as the team heads to Saint Francis (Pa.) for a Sunday afternoon matchup. The game is set to kickoff at 2 p.m.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC fell 1-0 in a midweek matchup to George Washington on Sept. 1 as the Retrievers continued a four-game road stretch.

-Freshman Jessica Hopkins led the team with a career-high three shots with one on goal, as UMBC placed five balls within the reach of the net.

-In goal, sophomore Leah Roth continues to make the most of her first season as the Retrievers' starter, racking up 34 saves and a .791 save percentage.

-CAREER WATCH: Redshirt-senior Alexa Quaranta is two shots away from tying Viviana Saraceno for tenth all-time in shots in a career (109). She is also four goals away from tying for ninth (18).

Scouting the red flash:

-St. Francis remains winless on the season after falling to Wright State, 2-0 on Friday afternoon. The Red Flash has been outscored 8-1 in their first five games.

-The lone goal scorer for Saint Francis was sophomore Shannon McGinnis, who netted the score against West Virginia on Aug. 28.

-Sophomore Julia Hernan has made all five starts in goal for the Red Flash, making 39 saves and posting a .830 save percentage in her first year as a starter.

-This will be the first time that Saint Francis and UMBC meet since 2002 when they were conference rivals in the Northeast Conference.
