UMBC Women’s Soccer Earns Second Consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY – UMBC women's soccer earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year, as announced by the NSCAA. This marks the fourth time in the last five years the Retrievers' women's soccer team has won the award.

This year there were 873 soccer teams that posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher (309 men and 562 women). UMBC head coach Leslie Wray's squad posted a 3.36 GPA, ranking the Retrievers in the top 200.

Last season, 23 members of the Retrievers' roster were named to the America East Honor Roll (3.0 GPA), including 14 on the AE Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.50 GPA). The squad also had a pair of America East All-Academic Team honorees in Nikki Boretti and Jessy Brown. Boretti also earned Capital One Academic All-America First Team and All-District 2 First Team honors, while Brown was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Second Team.
