UMBC Women’s Soccer Travels to Delaware State on Friday

BALTIMORE – UMBC women's soccer hits the road on Friday, Sept. 18 when the Retrievers travel to Dover, Del., for a 7 p.m. matchup against Delaware State at Alumni Stadium.

Scouting the Retrievers (1-6-1)

-UMBC has dropped four in a row, including two at the Battle of Baltimore Tournament last weekend. The Retrievers dropped the tournament finale, 3-0, to Mount St. Mary's on Sunday.

-Sophomore midfielder Gabby Boehmer (Lebanon, Md./Cedar Crest) scored in each of the first four games of the season, but the Retrievers' offense has slowed down, with UMBC being held scoreless in three of their last four games. Red-shirt junior Alexa Quaranta (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) has registered an assist on three of the team's eight goals, tying her for first in the America East.

-The Retrievers have started two goalkeepers in net this year, with freshman Mikayla Krinetz (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) earning starts in each of the last two games. Senior captain Jen Nance (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) has seven appearances and six starts on the season for the Retrievers.

Scouting the Hornets (2-5-1)

-Delaware State capped off a tough three-game in five days stretch with a 1-0 loss against American on Tuesday.  The Hornets had three different players reach the back of the net during the five-day span, including freshman forward Taylor Love's team-leading second goal of the season.

-DSU's offense is averaging 0.62 goals per game on the season. Love leads the squad with four points, while junior forward Ayanna Smith and freshman defender Samantha Bahr have each chipped in three points on a goal and an assist.

-Sophomore Michele Lammers has started all eight contests in net for the Hornets. Lammers has registered 41 saves on the year and has allowed 1.75 goals per game.

Inside the Series

-The Retrievers hold a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series, which began in 2002. UMBC is coming off a 4-0 victory against the Hornets last season.
