KANSAS CITY – UMBC women's soccer's senior midfielder Jessy Brown (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Women's Soccer's All-Northeast Region Second Team, as announced by the NSCAA on Wednesday.
Brown was one of 33 players named to one of three Northeast All-Region Teams. She was a member of the Northeast All-Region Third Team a season ago, marking the first Retriever women's soccer player to receive NSCAA All-Region recognition.
Brown, the program's all-time leader in games played (76), became the first America East player to earn AEC Midfielder of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons. The Plantation, Fla., native is the first Retriever in program history to earn a pair of major awards and the first since Shannon Bagrosky (1996 and 1997) to earn back-to-back selections to the All-Conference First Team.
Brown led the Retrievers and ranked fifth in the America East with a career-best 19 points and seven goals. Her 19 points were the most in a season for a Retriever since Amanda DiCarlo in 2005. Brown registered all 37 points in her career during her final two seasons on campus, with 10 of 14 goals representing game-winners.
