BALTIMORE – UMBC women's soccer's freshman forward Lisa Nanov (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) earned her second America East Rookie of the Week honor of the season, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Nanov added her second ECAC Division I Rookie of the Week recognition as well.
Nanov was part of three of the Retrievers' four goals in a 2-0 week for UMBC women's soccer. The rookie tallied the game-winning goal against American on Tuesday and dished out a helper on an insurance goal for a three-point effort versus the Eagles. Nanov also assisted the game-winner in a 1-0 victory at Robert Morris on Friday, her team-best sixth assist of the season.
Nanov leads the America East in assists and ranks third in points per game (1.20).
Team Notes From the Week
-UMBC concluded its non-conference slate with a program-best eight victories (8-2).
-The Retrievers lead the league in points (62), goals (21), assists (20) and goals allowed (six).
On the Horizon
-UMBC opens its America East title defense on Thursday, Oct. 2 when it travels to Burlington, Vt., to take on Vermont at 3 p.m. at Virtue Field.
