BALTIMORE – The UMBC women's soccer team looks to continue its momentum and remain undefeated on Tuesday, Sept. 2 when it travels to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on Bucknell. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Emmitt Field inside Holmes Stadium. Live action can be found at UMBCRetrievers.com.
Scouting the Retrievers
-UMBC is off to its best start since 1996, posting its fourth 3-0 start to a season in program history, following Friday night's 1-0 victory against Howard. Senior midfielder Lilly Rydon (Adelaide, South Australia) scored her first goal of the season, marking the seventh member of the Retrievers to register a point on the season.
-The Retrievers' goalkeeper Jen Nance (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) posted her second shutout of the year, registering a season-best seven saves against the Bison.
-Freshman forward Lisa Nanov (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) is the only member of the black and gold to notch multiple goals, with both coming in UMBC's 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Loyola. Nanov leads the squad with eight shots, having placed five on goal.
-UMBC's veteran defense has helped Nance to hold a 0.67 goals allowed average through the first three games, surrendering its only two scores to Loyola.
Scouting the Bison
-Bucknell has gone 1-2 in its first three games, including an overtime 1-0 loss to Rider on Sunday. The Bison return to their home field for the first time in 2014 when they take on the Retrievers.
-Bucknell held a 15-6 shot advantage against the Broncs, as well as a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
-Freshman midfielder Jackie Ham has come off the bench to lead the Bison with a team-best four points on the year. Ham has registered just three shots, placing two of them in the back of the net.
-Junior goalkeeper Jessie Ashworth has seen all the action in net thus far, making 15 saves, but surrendering a 1.61 goals against average.
Inside the Series
-Despite a 1-0 victory for UMBC on its home field last season, Bucknell holds a 6-3 advantage in the all-time series against the Retrievers.
-Five of the nine meetings between the two squads have been decided by one goal.
-The Retrievers are winless in four appearances on Bucknell's home field.
