UMBC’s Rachel McKee Earns Preseason All-Conference Recognition

Madness America East Preseason All-Conference Team

BALTIMORE – UMBC women's soccer senior forward Rachel McKee (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) earned a spot on America East 2012 Preseason All-Conference First Team, as announced by the website.

"The staff at College Sports Madness has picked the top players in Women's Soccer for the 2012 season," the site announced. "We expect these players to make significant contributions to their team in the upcoming season."

McKee, an America East All-Conference Second Team selection last season, enjoyed a breakout junior year, leading the Retrievers in goals (seven), points (14), shots (49) and shots on goal (24).

The forward was a nominee for the America East Women's Soccer Fans' Choice Player of the Year, after ranking second in the league in shots per game (3.06), third in goals per game (0.44) and eighth in points (14). Her five goals during league play was the second most in league play behind only Hartford's Caitlin Alves – Madness' Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for the America East.

McKee and the rest of the UMBC squad open the 2012 season on Friday, Aug. 17 against Lafayette at 7 p.m., inside Retriever Soccer Park. Admission to the contest is free or a live video stream of the game can be seen on
