CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC junior goalkeeper Lauren Kadet (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) is one of nine players to be nominated for the 2012 America East Women's Soccer Fans' Choice Player of the Year award. Fans can cast their vote by logging on to the America East's facebook page or by clicking here! Voting will run through Monday, Oct. 22.
Kadet, who leads the conference in saves (95) and saves per game (6.79), has ranked as high as eighth in the nation in total saves this season and entered the week ranked 20th. The Oakville, Ontario, native also ranks second in the league in save percentage (.841) and fourth in goals against average (1.20).
In five America East conference games, Kadet has totaled 37 saves, including a pair of contests that she recorded double-digit stops. Her 11 stops against Stony Brook on Sunday marked a season-high for the junior and helped the Retrievers preserve a 1-1 tie and keep UMBC in the running for a spot in the league tournament.
Earlier this season, Kadet moved into third place all-time at UMBC in career saves, racking up 298 stops in her three seasons with the Retrievers.
