Women's Soccer Drops 4-0 Decision to Pennsylvania

Three Quakers had a goal and an assist as the UMBC women's soccer team (2-12-2) dropped a home decision, 4-0 to Pennsylvania (11-2-1) Tuesday afternoon at UMBC Soccer Stadium. 

In the 12th minute, Quaker forward Jessica Fuccello scored her 10th goal of the season off a cross from forward Mara Fintzi, beating UMBC goalkeeper Catie Bukowski (Odenton, Md./Arundel/South Carolina) with a shot to the right lower corner.

Pennsylvania midfielder Natalie Capuano converted a penalty kick for her third goal of the season just before halftime.

In the second half, the Quakers continued to hold an advantage in possession when midfielder Molly Weir scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Fuccello in the 55th minute.

Pennsylvania finished its scoring in the 69th minute when Weir fed Fintzi, whose shot hit the post and went into the net for her fourth of the season.

Bukowski made eight saves in net for the Retrievers, and Pennsylvania goalie Sara Rose added two saves in 68:49. Quaker goalie Gina Winters did not record a save in the final 21:11 of the game.

The Quakers had a 21-7 advantage in shots in addition to a 10-1 advantage on corners. Freshman forward Morgan Warrington (Magnolia, Del./St. Thomas Moore Prep) had both of UMBC's shots on goal.

The Retrievers return to America East action on Thursday at Binghamton at 1 p.m.
