Women’s Soccer Concludes Season with 3-1 Victory over Albany

BALTIMORE--Freshman forward Morgan Warrington (Magnolia, Del./St. Thomas Moore Prep) had a goal and an assist to lead the UMBC Women's Soccer Team (3-13-2, 2-6-0 AEC) to a 3-1 Senior Day victory over Albany (4-10-3, 1-7-0 AEC) on Sunday afternoon at UMBC Soccer Stadium.

UMBC freshman midfielder Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) scored her third goal of the season when she collected a cross from Warrington and placed a shot past Great Dane goalie Maria Liguori in the sixth minute.

Warrington got on the scoreboard herself in the 18th minute when after a long run up the left side, she made a sliding shot that slipped past Liguori to give UMBC a 2-0 lead.

That lead lasted until Albany forward Diana Barrera scored off a pass from forward Teresa Boring in the 51st minute. Barrera took the pass on the right side of the penalty area and lofted a shot over UMBC goalie Catie Bukowski (Odenton, Md./Arundel/South Carolina).

UMBC finished off the scoring in the 85th minute when junior midfielder Kali Schwartz (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown South) found a streaking Erin Johnson (Norristown, Pa./Methacton), whose shot beat Liguori to the upper right corner of the net for her first career goal.

Bukowski had three saves for her second win of the season, while Liguori recorded eight saves.

UMBC held a 17-12 advantage on shots and an 8-7 advantage on corners.

It was the final game for seniors Alexis Rogowsky (Great Falls, Va./Langley), Morgan Sacchetti (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill), and Jessica Young (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone). Young led the Retrievers with six shots, while Rogowsky added a shot on goal.
