Baltimore, MD-For the third consecutive game, the UMBC women's soccer team shut out a Northeast Conference opponent. Wagner was the victim on this occasion as the Seahawks fell to the Retrievers 3-0 at the UMBC Soccer Stadium today. Retriever freshman forward Missy Moore, who is also the current NEC Rookie of the Week, continued her stellar play as she scored two goals. Her first one coming on a long lead pass that she corralled and shot past Wagner keeper Dana Honcharuk to the right side of the net. On her second score, the Silver Spring, MD native converted a penalty kick after she was hauled down inside the goal box during the 52nd minute. Moore now has six goals on the season. The game-winning goal came at the 13:27 mark as senior midfielder Viviana Saraceno booted a direct kick onto the foot of teammate Nicole Grinspoon, who beat Honcharuk from five yards out. That score was all the Retrievers would need as junior goalkeeper Becky Hicock and freshman keeper Kelly Lizon combined on the shutout. UMBC (4-5, 3-2 NEC) has now won three conference games in a row and will attempt to further that streak with a home contest against Long Island University on Sunday. 1 2 F Wagner 0 0 0 UMBC 2 1 3 Goals-Wagner- none.
