WOMEN'S SOCCER EXTENDS UNBEATEN STREAK TO TEN WITH 4-1 WIN OVER THE MOUNT

Freshman Missy Moore tallied twice, and Lauren Cunningham and Laura Motley added a goal each as UMBC (9-5-1, 7-2 NEC) extended its unbeaten streak to ten with a 4-1 win over Mt. St. Mary's (1-14, 1-8) in an NEC contest. The Mount got on the board first, when UMBC's Jennifer Wilhelm inadvertantly headed the Mary Coulby's free kick into the Retriever net, resulting in an own goal at the 5:56 mark. But the Retrievers quickly tied the score as Moore pounced on a loose ball at the goal line, after Motley's shot hit the crossbar and was loose in front. Moore would get the game-winner at 39:13, when she converted a penalty kick after a teammate was taken down at the edge of the box. Moore now has 13 goals in her initial collegiate season. Cunningham, also a freshman, scored an insurance marker at 74:25, intercepting a pass and scoring on a breakaway after fending off a Mount defender. Motley capped her three-point day with a goal at 84:10, on a follow-up shot from 16 yards away after an attempted Mount clear. UMBC outshot the Mount, 13-6, and attempted 11 corners on the day. Mount netminder Naomi Campano recorded five saves for her side, while Retriever goalie Becky Hicock had three for the victors. UMBC concludes the NEC regular season on Sunday, November 4, when they host Central Connecticut in the make-up of a game postponed from September 16. Women's Soccer UMBC 4, Mt.
