Seniors Brittany Levine (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and Catherine Sims (Elkridge, Md./Howard) have been selected to participate in the 2019 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Senior All-Star Game, the association announced Friday.
Levine and Sims were two of 44 Division I seniors to participate in the annual exhibition, which will take place on Saturday, June 1 at Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. The two will play for the North squad, coached by UMBC's own Amy Slade.
Levine, who was named America East All-Conference First Team this season, finished her career with 64 draw controls, which is tied for fifth in a season, 39 ground balls, and 19 caused turnovers; she also added three goals, including the game-tying game in UMBC's 9-8 overtime season-opening win against American. Levine ranked sixth in the America East in draws per game (3.56) and eighth in ground balls per game (2.17).
Sims was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team after she finished the season with a career-high 19 points off 17 goals and two assists, while also adding 36 draw controls and 15 ground balls. She scored a career-high three points in the 10-9 overtime thriller against Binghamton, including scoring the game-tying goal, while also controlling a game-high six draws.
Levine and Sims are now the ninth and tenth Retrievers to be named to the All-Star squad since the 2006 season, joining Carolyn Jamison (2018), Amanda Pappas (2011), Sarah Willis (2010), Kara Dorr (2009), Ali Levendusky (2008), Kelly Fiorani (2006), and Julie Libertini (2006).
